Rangie V8 and angles

Post by GURU »

G'day all,

Really want to run my P76 4.4 motor in my buggy, but have afew issues. Firstly it will be running gas, it will also be bolted to a Turbo700 Auto (using a castlemain rod shop adaptor).

But how will it handle side angles?? bottom end was rebuilt about 2 years ago but was only used about 1 year ago for about 5000kms. Things I'm worried about is running on side angles with hydraulic lifters. Anything I can do to stop this from being a problem or options to solve??

Dry sump would be awsume... but funds stop that real quick. If this isn't overcomable then I'll have to go with the Commo V6.... and run injection...would prefer the lighter, less elctronic and cooler sounding V8

Not that this may help you but i never had any dramas with the 4.4 that i had in my buggy. And it was still running when i pulled it out a couple of weeks ago. I was running twin zenneth carbs on it though.
Cheers Jamie

Not that i ever heard when she was laying over but then again was probly to worried bout it tipping to give a stuff what noises she was making.
At last rover park round she started to coff a bit when on a steep climb as it was sitting there while spotter was stacking but cleared when it started to mve up the climb. Was there somthing wrong with the commo six in the buggy?

Yeah but your running problem would have been the carbies ??

not really anything wrong with it.... just not a fan of them...

Like the lighter V8, nice torque, very basic electronics (no sensors), gas means it will run upside down...... and they wsound awsome!!

You could bolt it to a ZF auto and save yourself the cost of an adapter to the t700?

Better gearing with the T700.

Hey GURU...if we go to the Finals you are more than welcome to have a good look at our gas set up. Its on a 3.9 V8, but you can crawl all over it as much as you like.
