Reco Engine Prices

Anyone know of a reputable place that does a reco 1.3. Best I have come up with is about $1600 for a long motor, with 20,000k warranty. The Zook has to be back on the road in a hurry which is why I am sticking with the 1.3, that and less mucking about in the long run. Can't rebuild my existing engine...it's beyond that. The second hand engines I have found thru wreckers are all 100,000k's plus.

If anyone has gone this option let us know how you went...

Try Japanese engine importers.
Dunno where you are, but I payed around $850 for a low K swift engine here in Melbourne.
Still a gamble, they are 2nd hand, but have a fair warrantee.

Yeah considered that option - was told I'd have to change the cam shaft. How did you do yours?

Not camshaft but the Distributor drive needs to be aftermarket...

Yes, thats true for most swift/barinas, but some earlier ones have correct cam and dizzy. All the imported ones I saw had wrong cam.
With mine, I did need to change the camshaft, bit of a pain, but it only took me an afternoon, but was a while ago, can't remember all details...
Some people just cut a hole in the firewall, or similar, and run the swift dizzy.
My mates sister sold an early swift a little while ago, it had same cam and dizzy as the Sierra. So that may be a better option.

Thanks for the input guys.

Think I'll have to go the reco engine just for ease of swap and the warranty. Anyone come accross a reco cheaper then $1600 (thats including freight). Does anyone know for sure if the components in these engines are cheap junk or quality parts...I guess that would vary between companies. Its SuziWorld I am looking at at the moment. Anyone recommend them?

They have always been good to me.
But I only buy cheap 2nd hand stuff.
Don't know anyone with a rebuild from them.
I believe they build them by hand on-site, with only block boring and head work done by outside businesses, but this could have changed?

Thanks again Christover.

They are the cheapest I have found so far by about $300. John Howard's take and the frieght makes it pretty dear everywhere, which I really can't fathom considering how uncomplicated a G13 engine is.

So one last shot...

Anyone else dealt with SuziWorld or had an experience with reco engines?

hery i was going to suggest that if the head was good on your old motor to just get the suzisport 1400cc short motor which was around the same price as the long motor.

' cept when i jumped on the site the option was no longer there.
Shame really from memory you had the choice of high/low compression pistons... add a performance camshaft an you may just had something close to a stock 1.6l carby with no external give aways.

Yeah I have heard if that conversion, think I seen it a while back. Ahh well looks like I am ordering the reco engine.

Anyone running full synth oil? Was gonna run it in with normal oil and then run full sythentic first change.

Maybe I should start another thread...
