Yeah it can fit, but its not the best option IMHO. Heavy old skool motor that will chew fuel. Look into other conversions or turbo/SC your current motor (guessing its a 1.6L).

Yes it will and is a reasonably common conversion, but they are a cast iron block which is very heavy for a zook and imo not really worth it.
The most popular zook with this conversion would be Otis from 4WDM magazine

Been there. There are far better conversions out there that are more zook freindly. Try a 4aGZE if you want silly power without all the pitfalls of the heavy GM crap.
do a search. This has been covered dozens of times.

Or an SR20 - these seem to fit into Vitara's very nicely.
Commodore V6's weren't ever really that good in commodores. It will radically unbalance your vitara and the motor won't work with the gearing you have now.
Don't do it unless you are building a bush pig.

If you had the time you can bolt your sr20 to a pathfinder gearbox but the front output is on the wrong side . I bolted a ca18de to one and then cut up a toy solid diff to match . Would not do it again , there are easier things to do .
Get a j20 , out of a grand vitara the 4 cyl ones . Put your hairdrier on that , it would get along .
