Im just curious as mine seems to be getting soft these days . Mine is in a mk patrol but i figured this would be a std question.

I was thinking of replacing the fibre with a metal block.

I jUst dont want to be stuck with no steering over a $20 part

Cheers

I carry a spare, they do die, usually takes a long, long time, but much quicker if too much angle on them.

Metal could be a mistake, vibrations, and no give can damage stuff.

i agree with christover, i reckon if you put a metal one in you would get vibration through the steering wheel. as for checking it, id say take it out and have a close look at it.
