I am getting my 90 model factory turbo diesel engine fully rebuilt including the turbo. Should I up the psi in the turbo or will this hurt the engine? Need to know pretty soon, it is in at the mechanics now.
Thanks in Advance

For running in purposes, leave everything as standard, once its been run in, then the skys the limit in what you can do.
This way it stops and warranty fights.
Hope this helps

Get the mechanic to put the thickest head gasket available on the motor, and have the pistons crowns coated with ceramic coating stuff.....

it will depend on any other engine mods, more boost may just increase egt's, unless you have made better flow of air in, more fuel, and better flow out of the engine.
Just one change [boost] may not benifit, unless its part of the bigger plan.

some grease monkeys will not 'warranty' your motor if it has boost increase.
If you increase boost you also have to increase fuel. Also an added bonus if you have a larger exhaust to get the gases out of there quicker.
The more performance you get out of a motor the shorter life it will have.

G'Day
What type of truck do you have 90 mod what?
I have a 2.4TDssrx surf and can up the boost safetly to 12 1/2 psi, without upping the fuel usage.
If it is a toyota surf ect, the fuel will automaticaly compansate for the higher boost.
Have fun
PS One more thing, it is very important to have a reliable boost controler and guage installed when raising boost. A cheap boost controler can spike and cause damage.
