NEW RIG FOR STRANGEROVER

Post by POS »

So Sammy boy,

Whats the call for the new year, when is this tube buggy of yours going to make an apperance.

So far i know it going to have:

Portal Mog diffs
Heaps of tube
100:1 reduction

But what else, what sort of tyres are you going to run?

Engine, Gearbox ect

And most importantly WHAT COLOUR

Guys this thing should be awesome so keep heckling him so he has it ready fo XRCC.(and so we can copy some ideas)

i think you just let the cat outta the bag....i dont think he wanted anyone to know and he was just going to rock up at a comp with it. dunno i could be wrong.

I know the ol blue girl is getting 37mts and the 42's are being handed on to the buggy, it is also a 302 with (i think) np205 (but that could get changed due to strenght) and a sm420 or 465

Nah, it no secret.

I think its going to be -

Full tube
302 windsor
NP435 (manual with 6.7:1 first gear)
NP205 (2:1 low range)
Mog 404 portal axles (7.56:1 gears)
Rover bonnet and grill.

Will either run some 37MTRs or my 42TSLs.

The things I need to buy yet is a tube bender, the NP435 and NP205 and a rover bonnet and grill (might try to go series 1 this time)

I will end up selling my blue rover and it will probably run some 37MTR untill i do. With the front locker and the new gearing (went from 55:1 to 85:1 with the new gearbox) the front axle is no where near strong enough for the 42s. I think with some 37s it will go much better.

Although I still might run a C6 auto instead of the NP435.

Ive been thinking again and I dont think I will go full tube. Just looking at how much time I got and more importantly whether a full tube rig will be allowed into tufftruck i think i will build the same way again as the my blue rover (rangie chassis base). I dont think I will run the auto gearbox yet either.

So the spec will be:

Rangie chassis
302W
NP435
NP205
Mog 404 axles
Coil springs
Land Rover body

This will be alot easier to build and will also be certifiable for tuff truck as well if needed.

Thats what i was thinking. With the mogs I think i will have to run the front axle in front of the motor to keep the centre of gravity low so to go full tube and really chnge the way the rig is configured would take some doing in one step.

If i still run the chassis and just eld everything in then at least I can see where everything is going to go before I go full tube.
