Good to see a commonsense solution for a change  Could be applied to sooooo many tracks around oz. Good on the 4wd association too :D

Good on em for this. All Shitney 4b drivers should get behind it, show them 4b drivers are interested in it being open... that and other areas.

Its a start.

I bet this is a trial, they will see how the area is managed, and or abused, and look at other areas from here..

Problem will be overuse as there isnt many places to go now..

problem is it's only State Forests making the deal, and most of the state forests in NSW are geting handed over to NPWS - and it's at about the time of the handover that NPWS goes 'thanks state forests, we'll just ""manage"" this land by closing all the tracks, starting from now'. so if (more likely when) that land gets handed over to NPWS it will just get closed again.

why wouldn't you drive up there for a working bee MQ? it only takes half an hour longer than going to gay Menai and there is no traffic.

Where is this joint :?:

1/2 hour which way from Menai ?

it's about 1.5 - 2 hours from menai. from MQ080's place (Kenthurst) it is about 1hr20mins drive (start at Zig Zag railway on the way to Lithgow)- I'd guess it would take about 50 mins from his place to Menai, have to go pretty much across the city.

takes me about that long to each from blacktown, I prefer to go to any of the (allegedly now closed) Putty Road trails (Wheelbarrow Ridge, Freds) or Cabbage Tree Road or Lithgow/Newnes ie where the Spanish steps is - pretty well over Menai, yeah there is some top tracks there but the drive across the city is just a pain in the bum :)

I don't mind the drive (i did it six times on the weekend :D ) however unlike Menai the land isn't private property... I'm doing nothing for the government in the way of helping out with clearing tracks after all that was done for porters and they closed it without consultation.

...come on do gooders, tell me that i'm an arrogant offroader, and it's people just like me that don't give a stuff and that give "us" a bad name.

Lithgow tracks arnt that far away from mq080 house after coming home with him on the weekend with the mq on the car trailor we drove straight back up and it only took about an hour and a half to get back out to camp site whilst dropping off the trailor at Kurmond servo however his dads truck is a little worse for wear from the tow home, ever seen a car trailor airborne?
