Does anyone know if there is a kit to put a Gen 3 into a P38 with preferably a Turbo700?
Has anyone done this conversion before?

Overfinch in the UK have probably done it, dont think there is a kit to fit a T700 up to whatever transfer the P38's have.

Yeah thats what i thought, there is a kit for T700 to LT95 so someone shoud do it to later model transcase.

I don't think any of the usuals do it (dellows, marks, castlemaine etc) but there was some guys on here that build the buggies that made an adaptor I believe. It even gets a quick mention in the 4wd monthly writeups I believe. Marks do a 4l80e adaptor but those transmissions are $$$$. Best bet would be the 4l65e if keeping a standard tranny behind the gen3. Heaps lighter than the 4l80e but its rated to a higher torque than the 4l60e and has some slight differences in design.
www.ls1.com.au has heaps of info on the engines and trannies. I also recall seeing ages ago an advert for then bruce davis performance for gen3 conversions into the p38's but that may have been using the zf, which castlemaine rod shop makes an adaptor for.
On a side not I wouldn't think theres many ls1's over in the uk to justify a kit from a manafacturer there. Just my opinion though and I'm often wrong.

Mate whos doing it has his own transmission business, so trans no worries.
4L80E is the same as T700, except ones electronic and ones not, physically the same to look at.

they are not the same. T700 only has 4 bolt holes for the extension housing and they are small only about 8mm.4L80E has a bigger housing.they dont want to hang a trans case off 4 small bolts.thats why there is no kit for it. i asked marks addaptors about this a while ago.

4l60e is the electronic version of t700. 4l80e is an overdrive + electronic of the th400 I believe. it has a much higher torque rating than the t700. Its used in all the gm 4wd's/utes behind the gen3 or similar v8's. Would be sweet to get one on the cheap as there pricy in Australia for anyone not connected.
