Looking for a bit of feedback on the 3rds dropped arms..... i'm seriously considering getting them for the Pootrol... the look the goods, and are a lot cheaper than a 5 link front.

I run these on my GU comp truck. They work well. You don't get heaps more flex out of it but the flex you get works heaps better and they are tough as

ive seen them in action on a mates patrol, one thing i seen them do and did not like was
was were they mount to the chassi point and to there first pivot point there is a little amount of movement in the horizontal position
other than that they seemed good

I have done some mods since putting these in. I punched the chassis mounting points into the chassis. Easy fix was to weld a 5mm plate in the front of each chassis rail where the radius arms mount up. The only other thing I've done is to replace the bearings in the knuckle with radius arm bushes. Fernando will ask if you'd like to do this anyway. It takes a lot of the shock out of hitting ledges etc.

Some people have removed the knuckle all together and mounted them like landcruiser radius arms and this seems to work OK for them. Can't really see the benefit in all the extra engineering though

anything would be better than the weird assed angle the radius arm is on at the moment. the 6" springs push it down a long way, and it would flex like my Statesman at the moment
It would still have to flex better with the drop arms than it would with the current arms, even before the 6" lift.
I can get a 5 link front setup that works with a sway bar for a bit less than the radius arms, but i suspect you will still need to do a fair amount of welding to make it happen.

Ludachris also had the problem with the arm punching the chassis mount in/back.

We have found slimline drop boxes work well to fix the "hammer" back into the chassis, and allow flex and help save the bushes, but have played with 80 type bushes with longer arms, which allow around 8" more free travel in the front end.
Drop boxes also fix the castor/camber issues, along with standard arms.
