i was looking at this and thought id ask a stoopid question

how is it fitted to the transfer?

does it just bolt onto the transfercase output on one side, and connect to
the driveshaft on the other?

and just to check:
does it work by moving a splined collar off the output flange on the disconnect?

Thats how it looks to me, I believe you are correct.

pretty much what you said.

alrighty then so unless someone can point out that its not "bolt on" so to
speak ill shoot him a bell and find out more.

Iv`e fitted a toyota one from trail tuff,hopfully be strong enough
here`s a right up that should explain how it works

just read the first 3 pages and people are saying drum brakes suck big ones.

im not boasting or anything but when i had no rear driveshaft on, doin "pretend digs"
the front spun me around, and the rear held me WITHOUT CUTTING BRAKES fine?

Hand break is useless if its on the rear of the transfer.
Have a look at the haultech unit that is air over hydro Cheap and effective And will work well with a yuri rear disconnect. But talk to yuri first.

I dont think an air over hydro system would be a legal emergency brake.
Emergency brakes need to be designed to fail on application if they are going to fail at all. I have seen electric assisted park brakes on i think a mercedes bus, but that uses an electric motor to wind a thread, thus no threat of it letting go after application.

There is a threat of a small air/fluid leak which could cause the brakes to fail after application (ie when your out standing behind the truck).

If you still have your normal park brake aswell and you just use the air over hydrop for cutting then thats not an issue of course Of course if this isnt a road registered vehicle it also doesnt matter

Yeah my comment was for an offroad use only I certainly wouldnt use and rely on one on a road going vehicle for everyday use. In an offroad use i think it is an easy and cheap way to lock the rear wheels as so to front dig when the rear is disconnected though
