Effect of Towing on a used patrol

I am in the market for a 4.2 diesel patrol and have found on with 180 000 k's
on which is pretty good.

It looks like the 4wd's primary use was to tow a 16ft caravan around. I am just wondering if this would have a detrimental on the cars life. The plan is to replace the suspension anyway but what about that effect on Engine, Gearbox & Clutch?

Anyone have any idea??

Thanks

I would listen carefully to the gearbox, especially fifth gear which is known to fail from towing.

Bear in mind though that you should be able to get a used replacement gearbox for ~$500 or so, now that the GQs (I assume you are talking about a GQ with those kms) are getting older. I wouldn't personally expect anything other than the gearbox to have been stressed by towing duties, and like I said even then it's mainly the overdrive that I would worry about.
