:?: Does anyone know where i can get a new heavy duty radiator for my 3.9 isuzu powered stage1? Unfortunately the tanks are past it, and a recore is not an option.

British Offroad have quoted me $900 !!!

I don't know that a standard radiator would handle the auto with trans cooler towing a 1.2 ton van.

any ideas?

cheers

IMO - don't use a trans cooler in a radiator. Fit a seperate unit - this will be better for transmission cooling and give you more options with the engine radiator.

The auto also runs about 125psi through the lines when locked up and requires high pressure fittings, not the normal stuff.

The radiator in my Isuzu is made by Natrad, as part of the Aussie component for the ADF Rovers. It has an 'AYG' part number. Probably a good chance Natrad might have something for Series or similar vehicles, try them on 131 723.
I was also quoted just under a grand for a new one, by a local mob, but they must source the unit from somewhere...... my original now operates at 98%....more than enough, even in the worst of conditions.

yeh, thanks guys, the trans cooler is running through the radiator as well as through a remote cooler and it still gets to 110 degrees by the oil temp gauge using all hydralic fittings.

Shall give natrad a call on Monday.

Our local rad man has suggested that we have an underlying problem of electrolysis that has eaten out both the tanks and thermo housing in un der 12 months and our 12 volt sparkie says that it is not a stray current causing the problem.

any ideas?

Rang natrad today. They have been bought out by another company and don't deal direct with the public anymore, apparently.
Someone must still be suppling the army though.

Lunds in Cairns have turned up a standard, not heavy duty radiator for $363 + postage. May go with that for the time being.

RE: tha auto.......is a c4/5/6 concoction put in by God knows who. It is a very neat istallation that works very well. It did however get very hot when towing our van up long hills. Hence the trans oil cooler.
The torque converter is rangerover and it still has the original t/case.
