can any one tell me if suzuki diffs are physically the same size? that is they will all fit in the same housing cheers

Well a Suzuki Carry diff may not fit into a Sierra if thats what you mean
Or do you mean between all model Sierras, or between say Vitaras and Sierras?

As far as I know LJ 3Rd's do fit in 1L diffs...I could be wrong tho

Vitara 5.12:1 diff center...But by the time you find 2 plus fitting costs you might be able to find a transfer case with gears in it already

How much of a reduction do you need?? It is as simple as putting N/T 1.3 (11/84-87) centres into a W/T. That will take your ratio from 3.7:1 to 3.9:1 is that all you need or do you need a lower ratio than that?

A good thing about using N/T centre in the front of 92 Sierra is strength, the N/T front hemi is 4x pin as opposed to most W/T's being 2x pin hemis.

You can only fit LJ diffs into 1.0 litre Sierras.
I have LJ50 2 stroke diffs in mine, they are 4:9's.
They will not fit any 1.3 diffs.

As stated Vitara front diffs (4:6 and 5:12 mostly) will fit with minimal trouble. Small amount of modification needed I believe.??

From my knowledge (not tested)

You have to use the front vitara centre at both ends, or just the Vitara ring and pinion.


The vitara centre is weaker than the normal sierra one, and you'd want to use the sierra one for lockers anyway.


Do it, and put a minispool in both ends while you're at it




However, cheaper reduction would be easier to get from a 1 litre transfer case, and even the cost of a rockhopper isnt gonna be much worse than buying two front vitara 4.6 diffs (hard to get for this reason).


As for 5.12, it'd better be offroad only, or toy need to run something like 37" tyres for stock gearing


Even 4.6 for a road car well, you'll be driving on the highway at 90, or you need 33"s.

Is there a difference in ratios between the N/T 1.3L and the N/T 1L?

I have changed my back diff over, and Im not sure if the ratios will be the same.

NT 1.0 litre diffs are 4:1

NT 1.3 litre diffs are 3:9

I have even heard that early rear wheel drive 323s centre will fit a serria. but then you will need custom axles. I do not know this for certain, just somthing somone told me once

Ok then, is it possible to put the disc brake setup from the 1.3L ---> 1L diffs? On the front.

Yes it all bolts on, though I haven't done it myself, I assume you use the hubs and everything from the 1.3 onto the 1.0.
Mines a 1.0 litre and it has 1.3 disc rotors, so I guess they are exactly the same.
