Definetly worth doing if you want to keep your COG nice n low.

Each wheel arch probably takes around an hour.

how i understood it was, youd grind the tabs and push them in then fibreglass over it...
so it looks here:


but then i look at your inside shot
and i dont understand whats happened?

how come you have cut inside too?

When you grind the tabs into the wheel arch you grind about an inch into the inside wheel well. You need to push up the height of the inside wheel well so that when you bend the outside tabs up into the wheel arch they meet with the inside wheel well. If you dont cut into the inside wheel arch and lift it up you arnt really doing a virtual lift.

When you start it will all become fairly clear. I just copied the izook page when i did mine.

First take of all your old flares etc.

Next cut the tabs with a grinder. I used the mark left by the flares as a guide as to how far to cut. Cut inside of the wheel arch about an inch or so.

Next cut along the length of the wheel arch just inside the lip so as to separate the inside arch from the outside.

Bend the inside arch tabs up so they are flat. Trim down in length so they fit.

Bend up outer tabs in towards the wheel arch to meet the tabs you have already bent down.

Then weld or rivett.

Cover with fibre glass.

Hope this helps. It sounds a bit hard but when you go to do it it is fairly easy.

So long as the body is still "sealed" in the rear and you leave no sharp protruding edges, there is no reason why it should not be legal.

The bigger rubber you will want to run .. well that is another question ...

Using lawn edging for flares is "technicly" not legal.
Its because anything sticking out from your car has be a certain thickness (5mm I think) so it cant injure pedestrians .
Most people that see mine dont realise its lawn edging untill I tell them, they its some kind of custom flare .

yer you have to use that rubber stuff if u want to be legal something about it being able to decapitate or soemthing

so basically thick edging or multiple layers of it, so its "legal"

hoe do you attach it?
pop rivits?

I used wafer head philips tek screws to put mine on.

yep that should be fine
i think it has to eb a certain thickness to have a deflecting action instead of letting them hit the wheel

i had lawn edging on my car when i got it engineered (nsw) and the engineer liked it- "cause that would stop more debree coming of your tires"- dunno, don care, it was cheap. only gonna tip it over and bugger it anywayz....

Hey chunkz how are you going must be a catching disease look at this link and see ronoors rig (My mate Ron). Hes got the Zook bug bad from virtual lift to shackles that went on tonite and look at the rest "phew" more to go...
