Power steering ---> Stage1

Post by "CANADA" »

Has anybody done it?

How did they route the steering shaft?

And did you use the Stage1 steering column??

The rest should be easy enough

This may or may not help, but there was a write up in LRO some time ago about power assist for series, and I think they said the stage 1's were even easier to do... Sorry I can't remember the issue.

Anyone

Even some pics of Rangie box's would help...

Going for a RWC in a month or so and steering is a major part of something i want fixed...Getting rid of the strong arm would be a bonus too

I'm not sure, but I can describe what I have the stuf to do, but have not done yet.

I've got a 2a, the steering linkages are to be replaced with a Defender column which LVS tell me bolts straight in. I'm then linking forward to an LC60 steering box with a hybrid linkage. The LC60 steering box is outboarded though unlike the Rover setups. Then a factory LC60 link down to LC60 axles. I have a RR PAS compressor that will run of the Stage 1 V8 hopefully and I'll have the hydro lines made to suit Rover pump to Toyota box.
Cheers

http://www.stage1v8.org.uk/phpBB2/index.php?

check that out

i've not searched for a post on it or anything, but it will be a good source of info.

i think it will be pretty much a case of adding defender components, column, box, pump.

main issue with putting standard rover stuff in a series is a big crossmember in the way i think. Stage 1 layout is the same as defender.

Alas i have no idea how the drop arm attaches.

pump mounting/plumbing should be easy enough though.

hell there's even a topic about that on the first page

i imagine searching may also yield some more results there although i don think there are too many posts
