Brake Pedal Height

I bought a 95 sierra a couple weeks ago, used to drive an MK patrol, got used to most of the changes except one, the break pedal height, it's so far from the go pedal.
Is there any way to get it closer to the firewall and keep it working safely, it's currently set up exactly as the manual says, it's got about 10mm of adjustment in the pin, but thats not enough.
I want to set it so I don't have to lift my heel too far from the floor.
Has anyone changed to a differant pedal.
