just brought myself a 1984 fj45 troopy took it for a play locally and after about a hour it decided to spit all the power steering fluid out the res and all over the engine bay
its completly stock running 31's and i wasnt really giving it a hard time
ive got a larger aftermarket power steering cooler that i can fit to it to keep the fluid a bit cooler if that will help
anyone got any ideas ??

i get the same problem with my 60
when i get bogged i move the steering side to side twice and it spews everywhere, i carry a bottle of tranny fluid with me when i go now
but yeah fitting a cooler will help a little but i dont think it will help alot
there must be a pump you can fit that is better im sure someone else can give details cause i am interested too

my 40 does that ever since i got the 33's and decent flex.. itd max out and whinge a bit and now it doesnt take much to get a spray line under the bonnet.. haven't done anything to fix it yet. use stop leak powersteering fluid but i doesnt really seem to do much.. i check it every now and again and its only really empty after a heavy wheeling session or extended periods.

i was bogged giving it a bit steering left to right ended up winching out once i was out had no power steer
refilled it then by the time i was on asphalt it was empty 10mins nothing hard or serious
tho its good to know alot fo them do it il prolly fitup the bigger cooler and im going 60 series anyway asap so hopefulyl that makes it a buit better anyway

1st Question is where is it leaking from?
And dont just say the pump where on the pump

i really cant tell each time its done it its spewed 200mls + out and its just gone everywhere so i cant tell where its actually leaking from GRRRR
i had a look today and it seems that the cap is a bit dodgy turn it too far and it goes loose so ive put the cap on till its tight hope this fixes it for now
i really think its been going out the cap but i cant be 100% sure

Get some one to hold full lock with a few revs on see where the leak is if you can get it to leak.
