would a small fire extiguisher hold enough air to blow up to double mattreses if it where filled with air at a servo?

are they rated to take the pressure?

while setting up tent, use compressor to pump up bed, before tent is up, bed is ready.. one less thing to carry.

ive been through 4 pumps now and theyve all been so damn slow! i was thinking of storing air in a bottle filled from a servo with enough air to just pull up, blow up the mattreses and thats it! possible?

pull up and blow up - is your tent that fast?

go visit bigw for 15bux you can buy a high volume pump pumps up a complete matress in about a minute

i got one here that ive used a few times works a treat no point in using a compressor for tyres to do it

I thought i might actually ANSWER the mans question for him....
NO. a small fire extinguisher will not hold enough air to inflate your matress. Also, invariably airbeds have a tendency to develop leaks at the most inopurtune times. So if you don't take your pump then it will slowly leak and on the second night you'll be sleeping on your deflated air matress on the cold hard ground.

I'd suggest looking at a decent inflator rather than just air storage.

I agree, I like the cordless recharchable ones, they are little more bulky but heaps easier + they are great to start fires when it is damp or get the fire going from coals again in the morning

any way why do you need a pump harvey, you have plenty of kids to blow up the air beds

Buy a self inflating matress like i have; never need a pump again
Mine has a high density foam in it so if it leakes it just means it is harder to squash back into the bag. You never sleep on the hard cold ground.

im a big boy and self inflating mattreses i havnt seen one yet thats big and thick enough for me!

i can stand on mine and not touch the floor, its a Diamantina 4WD mattress, self inflating, dunno bout you, but im a fat bastard too its my favourit thing in our camping gear by far

before i got my tank and compressor, i was using a high volume/low pressure 12v pump. they cost bugger all and will fill a queen mattress in a matter of minutes. I think mine came from supercrap but has really gone the distance. i still use it occasionally because even though it isn't a pressure pump it flows a lot more volume than my compressor.

Well i am about 6 foot 6 and not a twig. And the green one i got from camp mart before it became BCF is great. I get a sore back on air beds because of my weight pushing it down in the middle; but not on this one.

I should have clarified i don't mean the normal air beds that have a self inflator on them; i mean the ones with foam inside, works great.

Can't think of anything worse than a standard air matress....they go flat in the middle of the night & they suck the heat out of you.
Since I'm not physically carrying the junk myself - I like to have a nice big thick foam mattress, doonas an all.....
Air mattresses are only useful for floating on a river on a hot summers day with a big esky in tow.....
