Just looking for a cheap get me out of trouble job for the boat and the 4b. If no good, any suggestions?

It would only need to pump up standard size GU tyres, maybe jump start car/boat battery if needed. Not too concerned on quality, if it gets me out of trouble once then it paid for its self.

ey mate, i got one and its got pretty good jumping power. I can jump my 84MK patrol 3 or 4 times no problems and still run my camp lights etc.

Also runs my Waeco for 7 hours. The air compressor is ok.

They are cheap insurance if they even start you once when no-one is around
We have one in the boot of all 3 cars.\

I haven't used it to start the Rocky yet.. be interesting to see if it had the guts to do it...

The air compressor isn't much good on mine... and it chews the charge a bit.
They're a great portable source for 12v cigarette lighter power tho

there good to have best thing i ever bought but mine has stopped holding charge but for the $$$ i'm not bothered i'll just buy another one

I had one that I took to Tasmania when I toured for 6 weeks....it was a cheapie from Big W. It lasted the full 6 weeks running the fridge (eutectic) at night as well as the fluro and DVD/TV player for wife and kids.

The only issue I had was that the 12 volts from the cigarette lighter was not sufficient to give it a full charge. I came with a 240v/15v plug pack to give it a full charge, which I used in campgrounds etc. It is now dead and the won't hold a charge anymore.....but it did last six weeks of constant charge/discharge basically every day.....I am keeping the electrics that came with it. It has a 12v charge circuit that can be used to top up/constant charge from 12v-15v, a surge guard on the cigarete lighter outlet and a meter to monitor charge...and it comes in a handy carry box thing with jumper leads. Going to replace the battery, hopefully with a bigger one or even move the whole kit into another box with a desent battery.

your best bet is get one of those marine / outdoors battery holders and wire the electrics up into one of them with a decent battery, if there is room you could also add a small invertor so you have 12 and 240v power in a battery pack

a decent century or similar at a minimum, but well worth spending a few dollars on a gel cell

once you have this set up, the battery will last for years and it is as easy as changing the battery in the car when it needs replacing

Bang on the money Tiny, if you have to replace it every 6 months (seems to be a reocuring number here) and put up with so-so performance it will soon overtake the price of a proper duel battery set up that will last for years.

That one thats on ebay isn't a very good one! The guy over the road got one and it's not very good. I got one from super cheap (It's a red one) And hasn't failed yet. Has cigerate power thing and a light.

Handyest thing in the shed.use it when i need 12v to test things runs flouro when camping.carry it in the boat to run sounder and night light.take it fishin with flouro. tape light to rail /tree. hadit for over 3 years,,,HAvent needed to jumpstart car yet..A free tip...........when you jumpstart something leave it connected for a while to rechrtge it..thats wat RACQ do while they are doin the paperwork...

i got one ages ago from super shit and its done well till i started useing it to run my charger for my r/c crawler and drift car flatens it real fast but for the price who cares used to start my 6cyl falcon from dead flat

just a note, one morning with my (24V) diesel sitting at around 18V on the dash guage, it didn't put enough charge into the system to help start it. but we used em at the auctions and for petrol engines they're the stuff.

i was just at supercheap and saw 3 different types there.. different prices etc..
one was 49
one was 79
and one for 129

obviously different ampage.. which one do you guys have?

the one from ebay has like 3 ciggie plugs on the front and movable lights x 2. super cheap has one ciggie on the side and fixed lights..

I've used one for a couple of years for camping lights etc, and the occassional jumpstart. Mine is from Supercheap, I think 600 amps? I'd go a 900 amp now, as they are coming down in price. I've jumpstarted plenty of 4wds, inc v8 100series, Jeeps etc.

I reckon I'd steer clear of the Ebay ones tho....

There was a 600 cca 36amp/hr unit on sale at super cheap a while back but they sold out of these pretty quickley. The price was $159.

nice sounds tough as.. 660ca would be more than my standard zook battery? i am not too knowledgable of electrics

ive got both the red one for $40 never had a drama so i bought the bigger 900 for $99 and again never had any dramas , use it same as everyone else on here for fluros etc
i have used the little red one to jump start 60series and my zook many a time , i used the big one the other month to jump the gu from dead flat no dramas what so ever.

4130 warrior trying to jump a 24v system with a 12v starter pack why even try? if you had 2 of these and put them in series i believe they would jump it no problem , remembering volts= electrical pressure and the flat 18v your rig had is still 5more volts than a fully charged jumper has . just a thought

personally i reakon for emergencies all cars should have one

i bought one of the 900amp ones tonight.. have to charge it for 50 hours before i get to use it!
but as soon as its charged i am so flattening my mates battery just so i can use it
(wouldnt do it to my own rig! )
