brake improvement on lux

i have a ln106 hilux with 33x12.5, 4" lift, bull bar, rails.... etc

My brakes are shithouse, has any one upgraded to disc brake rear end (like maybe 80series brakes and booster). I have changed the fluid and properly bled the lines.

Also how much difference would expensive pads and drilled and slotted rotors make?

Has and one had the same problem??????

Cheers

soft pads on my LN106 dual cab made a huge difference to the stopping power on the front... which was then completely negated by the extra pedal travel the 200m extended brake lines soaked up!

Werent the 2.8D 4 Runners disk rear braked? those would have to be a fairly easy swap!

Dont waste your time with New Rotors unless yours are worn out.

When you say your brakes are "Shithouse" what do you mean?

Eg, Hard pedal? Spongy? Lots of play?

Makes diagnosis a bit easier, also list any mods you have made to the system and what pads your running, makes things easy.

The brakes are hard under foot, if i hit the brakes hard it does not lock up, jst slips on the discs a bit.

Also how exactly do i do a search, i'm not real sure....

cheers...

hard brakes but poor stopping....i would check your vaccum connection to the brake booster. if diesel it could be worn vaccum pump.

Did you check you had vaccum but?

Also, check for a seized caliper, glazed pads, if they are high performance pads that need heat to work they arent much good to you either.

when you lifted it did you adjust the brake bias back to normal or did you just leave the rod as it was, try unbolting the rod and cable tieing it up and see how the brakes are.

I have disc brake rear on my LN106 and am running 39.5 TSL/Boggers.
I had the same problems and found the rear discs improved the breaking heaps i also put slotted rotors. The other mod that made a real difference was putting streat legal braided front lines.

The rear disc conversion is from Offroad industries.
