Hi guys, I have a GQ diesel with an after market turbo on it, which is loosing water every couple of days, was wondering if any one can help Me. It heats up as per normal and sits on quarter, lucky to get to half on big hills, and water over flows into over flow bottle, but when it cools down it does not suck back into the radiator, i have put a new 90psi return cap on it. The water is clean, no carbon in it and no water in the oil. Could it be sucking in air around the radiator cap or would water be spraying out of it? Can any body please help Me?
Thanks. Paul.

hey mate just a couple of things, if there are no obviouse leeks their might be a crack or something in your head, do you ever notice any steam out the exhaust ? the water not sucking back into the radiator would suggest that their is a hole in the overflow pipe and doesnt create a vaccumme to pull the water back up as air is easuier to suck than water.

take to radiator place and have pressure test done, that will show you if its hose/easy fix..

Leaking coolant usually leaves a whitish type powder after its dried up. Also the coolant smell is distintinctive. Look for leaks around the oil cooler where it mates to the engine block, check the point where injection pump support bracket meets the engine--just where the power steering pump support brackets are (the one with 2 bolts) There is a coolant passage here which goes from the timing cover into the engine block. There are only 2 thin o-rings here which get brittle as they age causing a small leak.
