I have a ARB bar with a 10000lb low mount and am considering changing to a high mount, has anyone modified this bar to suit.
It is not an air bag vehicle so no need to worry about that and I dont want a chezzy bar or similar.
Any pics or info would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have a similar problem with the genuine nissan bar, only holds a 9k warn. I have a 10k warn. Prices Ive had on modding it, were almost as much as a new bar. I remember people talkin $600+ to mod one for GQ for Hmount few yrs back. maybe cheaper now though.

i'm not 100% sure if all arb bars are the same, but isn't it usually a case of cutting away part of your grill to fit the himount as it should bolt up to existing holes in bar

ARB actually made a gu bar to suit a high mount in very small numbers 4 or 5 i think. i have seen one and part of the top of the bar is cut away and the grill has to be cut aswell

I'm pretty sure that's right. My old flatmate modded his one a few years ago, and as I remember it, he just removed the Nissan badge & cut a bit of the grill out of the way. The winch looked like a pretty tight fit up against the grill, but he had no drama's with it.

I will do some measurements and see if possible.
The only thing I would be concerned about is the air flow to the radiator.

i ve heard its easier to mod the arb bar to fit the high mount however the factory nissan bar (arb design) is a bit more effort.
I know aus4wd racing do the mods but they do give you the option of getting it powder coated so it looks neat.
but i would imagine not much change out of $500

It'll fit but you have to cut the winch mounting frame out and move it about an inch to the left, weld it back in and mount the winch upside down. Not sure if the cover plate on the bottom can be remounted as my bar was super cheap and didn't have one.
Either way a grinding disc and a couple of welding rods, but otherwise free.

Pardon my ignorance, but:
What is the main difference between a high mount and low mount winch?
Is it just simply a case of the position it mounts, or is there some other difference that makes one better than the other?

Well, the others are doing it for $500+ so I'll give you mates rates of ... saaaaay ... $250?

Low Mount - Gearbox and Motor on the ends of drum. Brake in Drum.
High Mount - Gearbox on side and motor above drum. Brake on side of gearbox.
