Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have searched all the tyre companies that i know of, but does anyone do a tyre that is as thin but taller than the standard 205's. I know Simex do, but i was looking for something a little cheaper. Does anyone do a tyre sized 215\90\15 or similar?

wot ... like 650 / 700 / 750 x16? every body makes them! also 700x15

I never really understood that style of sizing. How does it work? What size would a 700x15 be approx?

215/75R15 is a common size and if you do some hunting you may find some 215R15. What sort of tread pattern are you looking for and what diameter? Are you staying with 15" rims or can you go 16"?

just as a reference....i have one dunlop 215 R15 that i got with the car as a spare and it is approx 29x8.5R15

It was the fact that i wanted to get a set of tyres that were taller, i like the thinner tyres for what i do, and i did not really want to be changing rims. it seems that a 215R15 is about the size i was looking for. I tried finding it yesterday, but how do they do the measurements for tyre, such as the 700x16? By the way, thanks for the help.

i got a spare set of tyres 215r15. they are made in japan dunlop max-grips.

lol didn't see that. well if you want a set of 4 dunlop 215r15 tyres and you'll pay to get them of my rims you can have all 4 for $140
They ave heaps of tread (3mm measured by my digital caliper)
otherwise you probably can expect to pay close to that for onew and i'll keep them as spares

Go to 16" wheels. These will allow you to run up to nearly 32" at 7.5" tall, and 34" at 9" tall. 16" rims allow the tallest narrow tyres.

7.50/16's are a really sweet fit on a sierra. these run about 30.8-31.75 tall depending on manufacturer.
Once you go to 15" rims, you are stuck with "floatation" and "P-Metric" sizing which will go wide quick.

I am a big fan of narrow tyres.

Last time i got new tyres looked at 215R15 and they were chaeaper than the standard size for a 92 vitara. I think they were about $115 for hankooks from memory and desert dueller style tread pattern.

A recent trip to NZ seemed to indicate that Firestone Super All Tractions (SAT) are still available. They came originally in 6.50x16, 7.00x16 and 7.50x 16 and possibly 7.00x15. I have to say that they were one of the best extreme tyres of all time, and a "cheesecutter" to boot. They used to be the standard tyre for British "Trials" for many years. If they could be imported they would definitely fill the void made by the lack of Mongrels at the mo. They work brilliantly on Zooks!!

I am a big fan of SAT's, however, the newest set I saw (about 8 years ago!) were radials and had a much less aggressive tread pattern.

SAT's were also available in 8.25X16 and 9.00X16 back in the day.

I would LOVE a set of 9.00X16's. These would be cool on my merc
