alrighty...

i bought a modified 40 series SWB from vic recently and need to take it over the pits to get her rego'd in W.A. my prob is that its a soft with a 6 point roll cage and it has racing harnesses instead of seatbelts.

now its been registered in vic with harnesses, 35's body lift and v8 but i know that half of that stuff will have the rego boys pissing their duds when i roll up.

so what i want to know is... can i put lap belts in place of the harnesses or do i need to put the original '75 cruiser belts back? please bear in mind i have no b-pillar to mount a shoulder strap too, only the rollcage...

any help would be appreciated...

You will have to get it engineered in your state. Even if you put std seat belts back in they will probably knock you back for the other mods.

I no the rules are probably diffrent in nsw but you can mount the seat belt to the roll cage in nsw as long as the cage is bolted to the floor in the correct manner, you can also run harnesses in a vechicle that came out with lap sash belts as a harness is classed as a lap sash because it is not self adjusting but if it has an ADR for retractables you can not run them at all.(advised by engineer)

does anyone know what year rectractables came out in the 40 series? i'm lead to believe it was 1981 so if this is the case i'll just keep my harnesses

alright. i dont think it matters anyway now cos i looked on the DPI website and its says you can fit seatbelts to any pre-1969 EXCEPT full harness type so i'll just be putting in lap sash belts.

thanks for the help guys

I am not sure if the 4 point harnesses are classed as full race harnesses, I know that alot of 4 oints are ADR approved, the main thing as I understand is that the harness used must have a normal seat belt type buckle so any one knows how to undo in the event of an acco
