BJ 42 Radiator hose (bottom)

Hi All
A question that i hope some one can answer. I recently purchased a bottom radiator hose for my BJ42. Apparently there are two types of hose to suit the 3B. I chose the ealier model one as it is longer (CH1336)
Problem is it is still 6 inches to short.
For some reason the current bottom hose has a metal joiner in it and a 4 inch peice of hose connecting to the bottom radiator. Very strange. It's like the previous owner bought the wrong one and just made an extension.
The problem is the so called correct length hose is to short also. I would still have to use the extension peice.
The radiator appears to be stock. I have a pic to show but not sure how to post it.
I can email it to anyone if they can help.

howdy wilko, i have a bj42 and my radiator bottom hose is exactley the same as what u have. they are meant to have the piece of metal pipe as a joiner between the two hoses, my guess is that it just makes it easier to install the hoses. And a good idea if u are changing the hoses is to go to an exhaust shop and ask them to cut u a new piece of metal pipe to replace the old one, because if it is like most parts on the beloved 40

it is most likley starting to rust.

This wouldn't be done to allow the differences in motors would it. Wasn't the shorty optioned with the 3B, 2H, and 2F motors.
Have to look at mine, haven't looked that far on it. Guess I haven't broken that bit yet.
Cheers

Thanks all.
I have another question about hoses. I am trying to identify the name of the hose that goes from the water pump to the thermostat. It looks about 6" long and maybe a 24mm id. I think it might be a by pass hose but the catalogue only lists the bj40 having one. Not the BJ42.
I have a pic if anyone can post it.

This hose dosen't seem to be listed any where i took mine down to a auto parts place, went through all there hoses and found one the same diameter and cut it down to the same length.

Ahhh, I thought the Shorty's come with a 2H somewhere along the line. No wonder I can't find any info on one with a 2H in it.
I'm about to start another post about putting one into a Shorty, hope I can get some info.
Cheers
