Shogun 2.5TD Engine problem

I put my 93 Shogun 2.5TD into a garage as it was smoking a bit (white smoke) and running a bit rough. The garage owner replaced the injectors, took it for a run and said "it was a bit under powered, but otherwise went well", when I picked it up I got a slight knocking noise from the engine (bit like a fan banging ona casing), after about a mile there was a large clatter from the engine. The guy in the garge came to have a look and has taken it way, and is still saying it could be injectors or engine wear.

A friend of mine reakons it sound like the turbo has gone, on idle it runs fine, but when you put your foot down it sounds like a fan clattering on a casing.

Can anyone give me any advice on what they think it could be, or had any similar problems.

Hmmmm it's quite easy to see if it's the turbo impellar itself causing the noise.
Remove the air intake hose and you will be able to get a couple of fingers in there to grip around the impellar and move it around to check bearing slop. There will always be a few mm play but that should it. For the impellar to be rubbing on the housing I'd say the bearing would have collapsed.
But the noise your describing sounds more than that, typical diesel clatter (increasing with engine revs) and blowing white smoke could most likely be the injector pump needs servicing.
I'd be looking at that first.
