Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Howdy. Anyone know about alternatives rims/tyres for a D40 Navara. Standard rim won't handle any bigger than 255/70/16 on the 7" rims. Can't find any alternative steel or mag rims and even off road tyres for the standard rim seem to be a problem. Even a 15" rim that fits would make tyres easier. Thanks for your time. Regards - Jim

mmm.....had one in the carpark the other day with 17" rims 15" would make it look as *** as the toyota D4

wont 255/85 or 245/85 fit? They're no wider and will be taller.

You can fit any after market rim, as long as you're happy with the set-up (check the offset & stud pattern). Most wider rims means you change the offset. You can change the offset etc, as long as you you don't change it too much.

Also, I don't know about the Navara, but a Patrol won't take a smaller rim due to the brake rotor size/caliper mount...

My new navara is on the way and its getting 255 70 16 coopers new STTs fitted. No bigger than standard but will be better than std HTs.

Hi again, Thanks for your replies. I ended up with Goodyear MTR's 255/70. The issue was that the new 6 stud pattern has a different diameter. 114mm. So rims still aren't easy to come by. Maybe shoulda optioned the 17" rims. Got heavy duty springs put in the front and the rear leaf reset. Gave me 45mm in the front & 60mm in the back. Not a lot but every bit helps particularly with the long wheel base. I reckon the body floats around a little more but I'm not usually loaded up with more than a couple of tool boxes.

good to see you got the springs sorted. we just had ours done and i've heard of them having to add a leaf to the rear springs of the new double cabs.
