i had this a while ago... mine stalled when i would decellerate and come to a stop, instead of going back to idle, it would just stop.
Got it checked out and it was the injectors, once cleaned there was no more problem, and no flat spot on accelleration either.

in that case you would be wasting money having the injectors cleaned!!!

Try a different mechanic. I find the dealers are okay on simple problems but it takes a real mechanic to fix the real problems.

Try a new kit for the carby... pretty easy to fit as they all come with instructions.
Also have you changed the leads, distributor cap and rotor button? Mine was running really rough and stalled once or twice. Noticed on service history that these had never been replaced. The pins on the old distributor cap were worn to the plastic and the rotor button was stuffed with evidence of arching.
I think that should sort it.

We did a club trip one time, a guy had a 1600 Scat that was idleing badly, cutting in and out, ect. We pulled the top off the carb half way through the trip, blew everything out with high pressure air, replaced the top, and he hasnt had any problems since. The Scat was bought cheap, and it had sat for a while. Crap in the tank was aggitated and picked up when 4wding. New filter helped, but the carb cleanout did the trick.
