Are camber adjustment bolts required on OME lift?

I am looking at getting an OME lift on a Suzi GV 3 door. I've been told that camber adjustment bolts are required to get the camber perfect otherwise there might some wheel scrubbing. Without the adjustment bolts is the lift too much for the standard bolts? Are the bolts really required?

I had an OME lift on my 94 swb vit for years, and never needed the camber bolts and never had any wheel scrubbing i think the OME lift is only about 35mm or so, but i dunno if the GV's are any different?

I used to have a 3dr GV 2000 model with a OME shocks and toughdog springs - I used the ToughDog camber bolts! Don't think it would fix scrubbing - it more to stop the tires wearing unevenly and tracking!

I believe they have camber adjustment built in,not enougth for 50mm of lift but OK for 25 to 30mm,I'd definely double check though.

is the source that told you that not installing camber bolts will result in scrubbing from the same company selling you the lift? or was it a mate?

from what i know, OME lifts are 30mm on vits, and GVs.

even when installing camber bolts, i think that they are limited to only 2 degrees of adjustment anyway. and the OME struts are supposed to have slight camber compensation built in. well, probably enough for 30mm lift.

when you lift IFS vehicles, you are decreasing the track width at the front. so you are basically pulling the bottom of the tyres inwards. this creates unwanted positive camber. (jack the front of the vit up from the crossmember and you can clearly see how this works)

if you install a lift on an IFS, you need to get a wheel alignment done, as it will affect your toe. not quite the case on a solid axle. toe is more likely the cause of accelerated tyre wear, compared to camber.

on lifted IFS vehicles, camber really only affects on road driving, or more so, handling. but you cant drive a lifted zook like a sports car anyway. so just take it easy, and slow down for the corners. the camber on IFS cars are always changing anyway, especially with lifted 4wds. (refer ackerman) and about 8/10 lifted IFS, or IFS 4wds in general will wear the outer shoulders of the front tyres more quicker. look at hiluxs, 4runners, and surfs. even the newer ifs 4wds have the same problems.

so, i dont think you need the camber bolts. i doubt 2 degrees of neg/pos camber is going to stop scrubbing by itself. to stop scrubbing, either fit smaller wheels and tyres, cut the guards, or bash the body. or MORE LIFT.

a BL usually allows a big increase in tyre diam to be run without scrubbing, and sometimes without having to fit lifted suspension, leaving the sus all stock and in factory working condition. no more camber bolt issues.

i have 3.5" lift in the front of my vit (i know its slightly different to GVs) and i run the OME struts. no camber bolts or anything. i have slightly more pos camber than i would like, but i can live with it.

I guess most of the front tyre wear occurs under breaking in which case the nose is tilting down and self correcting unwanted positive camber to some degree.
If you do happen to camber adjustment bolts make sure you get them adjusted properly or you may chew though you tires fairly quickly

When i put ome coils and struts in the front of my vit the camber was stuffed and was chewing up the tyres pretty quick. After putting camber bolts in is pretty much spot on.
I don't know if the GV is different.

I'd say once you've got the suspension in get a wheel allignment and see how far it's out. In my case the camber was out a lot but the tyre place i went to told me there was nothing they could do about it due to no adjustment.

After it'd stuffed my tyres i went to a guy that does the allignments for ARB cost me under $200 (can't remember how much) for camber bolts and wheel allignment which i'd say i've already saved in tyre wear.

It corners much better on the road than it did before too
