Cloughy, R U SURE you want to fit a ZF up to one of those monsters? I have 3 broken ZF's here on the workshop floor from my 4BD1...

A TH700R4 would probably be easier???

It does shake a bit, but so do those 6.2 diesels, but in a different way. I read of a few problems with them fitted to RR's in the UK with destruction of 4HP22's because of this.
I thought I would've been safe with a little old 3.9...

Yes i know i've read about your woes but its done 130k with a n LT77 and the drive like a petrol, you wouldn't know if the weren't so farkin noisy, just picked up a 88 hiline to wreck, 3.5 and ZF are faultless and its just a thought

The ZF won't take the torque.

Fit a 700R4 with an adaptor to the LT230.

I bought one from Brian Cotton at LandyOnline (SA). Plan was to fit a Chevy 350/700R4 to the 110 although with gas prices what they now are I may just go for the 4.3 V6.

Do you have the url for this site and how muh did the adaptor set you back.

Its not http://www.landyonline.co.za/ is it. Im hoping you mean South Aust not South Africa

edit* just browsing throught the site and there is an adaptor available but it involves a fair bit of moving around by the sounds of things. The only other option I know of is from the guys build buggies over east but their generally shorter.
