Outer Limits 4x4 Board

After spending sunday installing my new vdo temp and voltmeter gauges I now want to fill the third hole in the gauge cluster pod thing that I've got.

What I want to know is where the sender hooks up and the best way to do it. From what I've read in the service manual the factory sender for the oil warning light is near the oil filter. I want to keep the factory warning light so I guess I will be using a t-piece too. So on top of the actual location of where the sender taps into does anyone know the thread used for the oil pressure sender so I can get the various pieces and install it with the next oil change.

The thread is 1/8" BSP.

The fitting is on the right side of the front cover immediately above the oil filter.

As most pressure gauge setupsprovide a 1/8" NPTM fitting, I have had good luck with taking a stock Rover oil pressure switch, shearing off the plastic piece and drilling/tapping the remainder for 1/8" NPTF. There are some plumbing suppliers that can provide a tee with two BSP fittings and one NPT fitting, if you look hard enough, you might find one, but they are kinda specialized. I have heard of many folks using NPT fittings and pipe dope with good results, but I personally prefer to do it more right:-).

So is it a parallel or tappered thread in the block? VDO make t-piece adaptors with bspt but not bspp.

When you tapped the original houseing did you replace the sender with sender with a switch built in? There are sender/switch units available with 1/8" NPTF that switch at either 50kpa or 80 kpa. If thats an option I've got to find which presure switch is more appropriate.

I think what you did would be better, less fittings to come shake loose and keep it all closer to the block.
