Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi i have a td42 turbo manifold off a axt turbo kit with a brand new watercooled T3. I also have pipe feeding from the turbo to the the air intake, however, i need a modified air filter, dump pipes, oil and water lines. I looked at getting the modified air filter produced by turbo glide which uses a modified version of the prexisting pre filter, however, i got quated $650 dollars which i thought was a bit steep. I cant use a pod filter either as i want to retain the snorkle. I was just wondering if any one had any ideas regarding where i could get a modified prefilter for cheaper than $650. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

do you mean like one of the behind he headlight round airbox's that GQ's have then the pipework goes up to the main box on top of rocker cover?

Wrecker should almost throw one at you.

The turboglide systesm modifies the one behind the headlight to increase flow and replaces the standard filter with a K and N one. That is why when you purchase a system of ebay from tuboglide, you can gain a rebate for the return of your pre-filter. I was just wondering what routes i could go to get a modified air filter which would give suffecient filtration for cheaper than $650.

so you have the one behind the headlight? or you need one? Get one from a wrecker, they are what the GU uses instead of the one on top of engine, and should be worth $50 TOPS at a wrecker.

The Denco turbo system comes with a replacement airbox that goes over the rockercover, but at back of engine across instead of along.

Maybe a donaldson (long round airbox) could be an option, I think Dave T (MKPATROLGUY) might have one in his truck, think truck supply stores are the go for them

Currently i do have the standard gq prefilter and main air filter. Is there any difference between the gq and gu box behind the headlight and will the gu filter fit?.

I dont think the donaldson is an option as i have duel batteries and i can not see where else i could put it.

Im not sure, I will look for you when i get home, I have the GQ Precleaner box in the shed, i got rid of it out of the car..

I reckon you could get a sheet metal custom made box for hunge and a bit tops, and fit up any air cleaner

Their box is exactly the same as standard but instead of along the engine, its at the very back against firewall, and across. You could use yours possibly.

typo dude... nuthin more.

If you need a bigger airbox either get one made up or get a GU 4.5 litre air box they are the larger units and will flow enough air.

However if you need a custom fit sandy at aus4wdracing has built many custom airbox for high powered turbo diesel and turbo petrols.

Thanks for the replies. Will the 4.5 box will fit where the orginal prefilter was, or will i have to mount it somewhere else? Also what are the relative costings from the reckers for one of these boxes.

probably will have to mount somewher else but if your going to the extent of bigger air box have you considered going a 4" stainless steel snorkle as well no point having a big airbox if your not getting the air in there the first place.

I wouldnt worry about the other filter either its not really needed once u go a custom air box or GU.
