Does anyone have part no's for light and medium dobinson springs for gq shorty.
What stiffness springs would be recomended for a gq shorty.

I just picked up my 4in medium Dobinsons today (thanks to ludacris). They're for my LWB but I don't think there's a difference between SWB and LWB but I'm happy to be proved wrong. Maybe check the Dodinson website, it has their whole catalog online.

My springs part #'s: C45-100 (Front) & C45-113T (Rear)

As for what spring rate to go for, depends on whether you have a petrol/diesel, steel bar, winch, long range tanks, rear drawers etc.

I guess with a SWB you're not touring, so mediums would probably be good. But then again I have a fear of soft springs for some reason...

While the same coils are often used in the shorty as in the LWB, for a light duty SWB coil it is likely to be a different softer coil then what you would use on the LWB.

Going from the website it seems there is only one coil rate for 100mm of lift, that is the same part numbers you have. Can you confirm the coil rate? I need new springs but they gotta be very heavy duty.

OK what exactly is extra heavy duty??? I hate it when they say that, one companies heavy duty is completely different to another. need to know rates!

C45-100T 55.9 n/mm - 319 P.S.I.
C45-113T 51.6 n/mm - 295 P.S.I.

you could always just have emailed Dobinson - they would have given the above rates

personally I think 319 pounds is very high, you would want a lot of weight on the front of the car to need a rate that high!

The sales guy told me that they were medium rate springs before I bought them. If they're actually extra heavy duty, I'll be asking some questions.

I guess I'll see how they go when I fit them.

If they are the C45 100T's, you wanna be asking some very serious questions, as 319 is definately very extra heavy duty!!!!
I think off the top of my head ARB's 4" front springs are around 250 pounds.

What sort of load are you carrying? The extra weight I have on my mav from front to back is: Steel TJM winch bar without winch, second battery, cargo barrier, 40L engel, steel roller drawers, heavy steel rear bar, long range 147L tank. Also occasionally use a full length steel roof rack for touring. Its also a TD42 engine. After all the camping gear is thrown in ontop of that lot you can see why I'm after a stiffer spring.

I specifically wanted mediums so my truck would ride well unladen and flex well offroad. I don't tow, I don't have long range tanks, second battery, winch or drawers. The only heavy thing is that it's a 4.2D and I'll probably have a steel bar on it soon.

I think I'll be definitely be asking some questions of the seller.

p.s Anyone want to buy a set of extra HD 4in Dobisons (never used)
