295/75R16 are pricy!
But why bother cause the 285/75r16 or 315/75r16 are avaliable in an MTR - Better than BFG crap

WATEVA
I went for the skinnier 255/85's

I can use them until i get the 15x10 offsets to fit a larger tyre to.....later on down the track.
If i wanted to get a good tyre (not cheap) I would bypass the MTRS aswell and go straight for the Simex but tooo pricey

or even the BF Krawler I like that one

better than MTR's anyway

That's weird, they don't list the 33 x 10.50 yet i bought some a couple of months ago. they are a great size as they will fit on most standard rims and tuck in nicely yet still have the height

the BFG 255/85 is a good size for a rangie. I run these as my road tyres and have been pretty happy with them.
They're no Simex but i think they are a good compromise for a touring purpose.

last year i did tanami track twice, gibb river road, simpson desert, with th 255/85/16's and never had one puncture 0or any tire damage. the only leek was a crackede weld on a rim!!!!
i was pretty happy doing 15k with no damage. these tyres tuck into rover guards very well on full lock without a body lift and only 2" sus. lift, very handy. only trouble is there is a lot of sidewall bulging out at 15-20 psi. i believe the tyres would work on patrols as well.

are the BFG 255/85/16's still available? Three people i know run this size and in june / july did the canning. Prior to departing they wanted a few more spares and were told there were no BFG 255/85/16 available in Australia. Funnily enough, one of the guys used to run 33 x 10.5 BFG untill he was advised that they were not importing that size into Australia anymore and so swapped over to the 255/85/16 size. So can you still get 255/85/16 BFG's??

Good size Grimbo but watch the sidewalls. Done almost 50000kms on my set but they're pretty buggered now. 3 have had sidewall repairs and one of the others ripped right open early on.

I've got 2 unused non-km's if anyone gets stuck. I ran the 255/85 on a Disco series 2, and its a tight but good fit.
