Hey I'm still deciding whether to buy this ford maverick I've been looking at, it seems to be in SOOO much beter condition than the crap i've looked at in the last 3 weeks. But he's asking $9,500 and I'm just not sure if it's a decent price or not. It's a LWB late 1993 Ford maverick with 220,000ks 4.2 diesel 2 owners 1 being the bush fire brigade 2nd being a diesel mechanic. It's got no oil leaks, runs beautifully, been serviced every 5,000k's. But its got a drum brake rear end and I don't want to lose money on it when I go to sell it. Is it to overpriced?
Cheers
Guys your opinions are very much appreciated

Think about it. You ahve said yourself, everythign else you look at is a hunk of shit. price seems a bargain for a diesel with only 2 owners and service history, and its not an early model...
what do you expect?

The service history is worth a lot. I didn't know they still made drum rear ends that late in the Mavericks though. That would put me off a bit, you have to consider it to be about a grand plus labour to convert the rear to discs. Then again front brakes do most of the work anyway!
Then, when you come to resale, the service history is worthless unless you continue to keep it up to date, with logged services every 5000 km as well.... I'd probably want it to be a bit cheaper but it's not way off even if it's also not a real bargain.

Dude just buy it, drum brakes are no big deal and neither are the door hinges mentioned in your previous topic. Should get both problems fixed easily. Search ebay for door hinges or just put up with it like everyone else, a diff is a very straight forward swap also. Just do it.

$1000 for a disc conversion. You're kidding aren't you. You should have it done for under $500. Crazy to pay someone else to do it. It's a straightforward job.

Whatever. I am saying that if I were looking at buying a GQ and knew I would have to do a disc conversion on it, I would budget $1000 for it. Yeah, i would try to do it for less, but that is what I would allow for it in working out how much the vehicle was worth to me.
