Hi new to the 4x4 world and looking at buying a Nissan Terrano 97 turbo des. Mostly for the extra seats in back and the size. I have heard that these are just like a Pathy is this true?

I just want to know are this cars any good?
-Running costs? long trips and aroudn town?
-parts costs when needed?
-ANY PROBLEMS?
-Can they do beach drives - fraser Is type or just normal beach drives?

- Most of all if you use the 7seater, are they ok for kids in the back? We only need to use the rear seats for a short time of the yr. (Just long trip involoved for the kids)

Not sure if they are the same, but the Terrano over here (or Pathfinder) is a good, reliable wagon, with the TD27 turbo.

As good as any other 4wd in sand I suppose, as tyres make more difference than anything else.

Here in the UK [see links below] this is what we call the Nissan Terrano. Over here the main concern has been their high centre of gravity along with a narrow track = concerns of it rolling over on anything above a moderate side incline. But, in reading a 4x4 report of this vehicle vs a defender by a very biassed Land Rover magazine, they actually said that the Terrano surprised them masssively in regards to its capability offroad. It also said that the narrow track helded it get through tight offroad lanes where the defender was having its war paint applied [getting scratched to buggery down the sides].

Hope the links are of use to you.

Harvey.

I haven't personally owned one, but know a few people that have.
All were impressed with them, as was I, the only thing some did was put a slightly larger exhaust on to help mainly with cooling but I believe this was more being over cautious than because of a known engine problem.

Try looking here, or even posting the question on the forum. Not sure if the link is at all relevant to your model, as the Terrano's over here are Jap imports.
Reliability and performance wise though, you may get the answers you want.

Thanks for all that..

just another Question, i have been looking around other 4x4 sites and some of the posts about the Terrano say something like don't get a grey import, WHAT is a 'grey import' ???
