hall effect distributor conversion

Hall effect Distributor conversion, has anyone one done it and if so can u tell me how to do it or does a shop have to do it?

never done one on a rangie but on all sorts of japanese engines it's usually a matter of just pulling the distributor and associated 'black box' from a model with a newer variant of the same engine, then fitting it up. the wiring is pretty painless. are you talking about a particular kit or making something fit?

you'll like it, it's pretty good to never haing have to worry about points burning/ gapping, timing never goes out of tune, cold starts are completely transformed, high rpm spark is stronger, and it works better (but not flawlessly) when wet.

You can also buy generic optical kits that have a pickup that bolts to the points mount and a chopper wheel that slides over the rotor shaft. The only electrical hookup is to wire the black box to either side of the electronic ignition coil. I have seen the same units in auto shops with different branding - ie Allison and crane etc...

i was talking to a guy yesterday and he said a XF Falcon has a hall effect distributor that will go into mine .. but i will need to have access to a lathe... so i ask which parts wii need to be chopped.
thanks for your help i really appreciate it and any other advice anyone else can give me, i like to do all my own work.. then i cant balme anyone when it does not work ...

Im running a 4.4 leyland in my Hilux and it runs a Factory 3.9EFI Disco Dizy with an ignition Module from a falcon.It is a straight bolt in no mods.
