Sorry about the long delay people but I have been very busy with moving and lining up stuff to go to WA. Anyways, I finally cut the zook in half last weekend!! YAY! So now all i have to do is sus out a tray and tidy up the cuts i made and weld the back section on (behind the passenger and driver) so that water doesnt come gushing in!!! Anyways, besides that, I have been looking into doing a roll cage as well...seems like the best protection for me and my missus!!!! Was thinking one hoop over the back of the body (just behind the seats) and then run that down through the tray? Will post some photos asap..will be taking them tomorrow :)

so what happened to Bretts old rig you bought? Is this a rebuild of the yellow one or is this a completely new build?

Was kinda wondering this myself. I'm figuring he had some problems getting it rego'd??? Klappers, what's the beef mate?

The beef being that I would not have been able to get it reg'od. And I didnt want to touch it more than what I had to. If I had wanted to keep it I would have to have taken out the coils and put back in the leafs (not a big job i know), and to be serious I couldnt be bothered. So I swapped it for a stock 1988 WT SWB ST. But I am stripping all the good bits out of bretts rig. So parts I have off bretts rig are

1. AirLockers front and rear
2. 32" Centipedes
3. 1.6L Vitara motor.

So thats about 4 grands worth of stuff and I am going to swap it all over to the new rig AFTER i get it on the road ....

Also, there was problems with brett hacking up the floor plan and removing the drivers seat rail and welding plates on top of it....To much to have to change to get it on the road

That tray is insane, that whole truck is sweet . was wondering where the spare goes though. will your ride be ready for the gymkhana over here in WA in oct ? More here if you havn't heard WWW.4wdgymkhana.com.au Your build up has got me excited bout building my own, decided a while back I wanted a LWB tray back then seein yours got me ichin, but not in the situation to start yet . I'll just have to keep an eye on yours for now. Will be real interested in the tray measurements inthe future though .

Will you be running a full size spare tyre with your tray design?

Posted: Wed Sep 06, 2006 5:42 pm
by small talk
With your materials for the rear of the cab, myself and others have used 3mm was plenty tuff, and 5mm is that for the tray top?? i think mine was 2.6 or 3mm just think of the wieght factor as its only a sierra remember what u cut off probly made of old coke cans so doesnt wiegh much.
