Apparently these fans flow 3500cfm.(Spal)
AU thermos are a bit cheaper tho.
Any more ideas or recomendations?

I think they are the ones i was recommended. They have a longer life than the davies craig ones as the are not reversable; something about not having to be sleeved to run backwards .
I have a few other things to do to mine first but i want to put one in the Lux.
I would recommend using the cowling as this stops the fan pulling air directly sideways and causes more of a vacuum effect through the radiator.

hey hillbilly, i have dual 11'' spal fans on my vn v6 hilux. They are flush mounted to the radiator, these bad boys pull a massive amount of air.
Was recommended these by my boss a auto sparky, he said better than davies craig and bigger output.
Haven't fully pushed these fans yet as project just finished
cheers
Matt

twin themos off a Disco are cheap as from the wreckers and they are trouble free and a good compact size too- built in France I think (not UK!)
Otherwise go the Ford units as said

Hi Hillbilly,
Here in Europe Spal fans are considered the best of the best for performance and reliability... I also have one. I hope this helps.

If you believe the sales pitch the SPALS are supposed
to be the pucka.
At $300 a pop they would want to be all that.
I was hoping to here of the performance and longevity of these units.
I know the AU thermos are tried and tested....just looking for other
options as well.
Cheers.

I just erplaced the EL fans on my Rangie and have gone back to an engine driven fan as I found them too unreliable.

Taken from the PWR website, they sell both types, the SPAL flow a heap more than the DC. I don;t know where they got their figures from?
SPAL Thermo fan:
Availability:
16” = 2720CFM (straight blade)
= 3500CFM (skew blade)
13” = 1750CFM (straight blade)
12” = 2080CFM (straight blade)
= 1750CFM (skew blade)
11” = 1370CFM (straight blade)
= 1500CFM (skew blade)
10” = 1100CFM (straight blade)
= 1150CFM (skew blade)
9” = 1060CFM (straight blade)
= 1100CFM (skew blade)
DAVIS CRAIG Thermo fan:
Availability:
16” = 2120CFM (straight blade)
14” = 1270CFM (straight blade)
12” = 1060CFM (straight blade)
10” = 847CFM (straight blade)
9” = 653CFM (straight blade)

if you have the room between the rad and engine then a cheaper alternative for the AU fans are the twin thermos from a EF / EL. almost the same as the AU fans but just a bit thicker.
they draw

i have used these fans on another car and they draw a lot of power, but are an awsome fan. much better than davis craig.

I just put a 14" electric fan on my V6 Rodeo cos the fan clutch is stuffed.
Its a Seimens brand, S blade type, OEM out of a BMW. Its a front mount one and it blows big time.
I dont know what the CFM is but it does the job and that's all that matters.
Being OEM from a BMW I'd expect it to be reliable but you never know....
Only need to turn it on when I'm off road going slow especially in low range as thats when the temp needle starts to rise.
I dont know what amps it draws but I had to go from a 30A relay and 30A fuse (it blew) to a 70A relay and 40A fuse
