Gday,

I just got my air con regassed, and found that a musty odor if coming from the vents when turned on... I was told that mildew and mould build up in the evaporator, causing the smell... My question was if anyone has taken out the evaporator before... and how?

Would it be possible to give it a rough clean without having to take the gas out again? Ive noticed a few clips on the side of the unit, but there appears to be a clip on the back, preventing my from taking it apart.

Any help would be great,

Just getting ready for summer....

Cheers,

Martin

if you remove the evaporator you will need to get the gas taken out first, then regassed once refitted.
you could try some kind of de-odourizer like glen20 that kills mould and disinfects.
you might be able to reach the evaporator by removing the heater fan relay and spraying through the hole.
hope this helps.

Try running something like Glen 20 into the ventilation intake at the bse of your windscreen (on the outside). Just make sure you aren't in the vehicle and run the fan for a while with the windows down.

Also check to see if it's on recirculate or fresh air. Fresh air normally gives a much more acceptable odour.

Thanks guys,

Could this have something to do with the air conditioning not being 'very cold'?. I was told by a airconditioning mechanic that I propably needed a manual thermostat, because the suzuki's have a electrical one?!. Just weighing up all the options...

Thanks,

Martin
