can anyone give performance comparo. in different conditions eg. mud, rock & road use?even wear and noise differences would be great. mtr,s and 117 sports would both be in 285/75/16.

hey i have a set of mt 117 sports in 285's, i think they're great, great in the mud and on rock, been over lots of rugged terrain with pressure around 12psi, they perform great, bit of noise on road, perform well on road as well, even wet road is fine, good price, good look, good performance. cant go wrong

i run the mt117 extreams they are a very good mud and rock tyre and are still good on the road... road noise isnt bad so ive found..... but as they are a soft compound they will wear quick if driven on road lots .but other wise good tyre .

yeah i've had both on my sierra. MTR's are slightly better on rock. The silverstones are better in loose dirt/mud and look the goods.
Both are good on road.

yeh in the mud id definately go the silverstones. mtrs tend to gum up with mud too easy.

I'd probably still be looking at the MT117 Sports for my next tyres, although the new Kuhmo (KL61?) Muds would be on my list too.
MTR's would be good as an all terrain tyre, but the noise level from them seems pretty high for the lack of mud aggression. which put me off them.

ive run the 117 on my crusier and they are excellent i would run them again if they bought them out bigger than a 35, the only thing with them is they need low pressure too work well, like 14 psi front and 10 rear on the crusier and they seem too stay on the rim better if you run a simex tube in them than just a standard tube, but they come into thier own in loose rock etc and sticky mud

Also consider the xterrains, very good allrounder
