Hi guys my 2.4LD diesel hilux is not the best it has been run like shit and stilling on me under bricking and going up hills for a few weeks now. I have replace all fuel line hoses and clamp did the fuel filter same O-rings in the primer pump and Injectors, cleaned out the fuel tank. When I unbolt the primer pump and turn it upside down I can see a air bubble I have bled it out and comes back so know aim think it is the primer pump it’s self or the Injector Pump it is driving me crazy

What do you all think it may be??

try a new primer pump as it is cheap compared to a pump rebuild .

Father inlaws 4.2 gu was running like a hairy goat after a bad batch of fuel , the orings in the primer pump had been destroyed buy the fuel
replaced the primer pump and it was all good

you say it stalls under braking ,does it idle at all or do you have to keep it runnin with your foot on the throttle ?

get a cav style filter with a glass bowl at the bottom, then you can see if there is air bubbles in the fuel as its pumping or if the problem is furnter on after the filter/primer

sapz, don't quite work that way. Problem is the bubbles will stay at the top of the filter and not work their way down to the glass bowl. If they are forced down then they just slid along the bottom of the filter and into the pickup still higher than the glass bowl. You can see the bubble it if it is huge (1/2 the size of the glass bowl) or you take the filter off the firewall and turn it upsidedown.

The only way to see where the air leak is from is by running a small length of clear tube and move it along each join in the fuel line right through to the injecter pump (only on the low presure side) until you find air bubbles.

Nat, I think it is your primer, that sucker felt really loose. There is a filter place on Blaxland Rd behind the Bike shop, try there for a price on another CAV style primer/filter.

when i had a busted fuel line near the take i found it cuase i could see the bubbles comming out of the bottom of the spike and moving up into the filter, seemed to work pretty well for me
