Exhaust

I pulled my TC out some time ago and when putting it back snapped an exhaust bolt. Bloody thing's leaked ever since. (drilled out and replace by the way) The rest of the exhaust system is fantastic, like a new one.
I'd love a set of extractors some day BUT.....could I just take the muffler from the system and insert a hot dog in its place????
Get rid of the leak and make the old girl sound a little better than an air conditioner
Factory system on a 3.9 V8
I don't want the details on how to do it...just whether I SHOULD do it.
Thanks guys.

No. Unless you want irate neighbours and the filth pulling you over every time you drive down the street.
(No offence RN, it's merely a cockney slang expression for the fuzz from the old days...)
Headers are a Pain, they usually only last a few years, and a good quality set, HM or similar, will set you back good money. The standard EFI manifolds if port matched will be just as good on a standard motor and be much more durable for wheeling. They will still sound good with a 2.5" mandrel bent single system and high flow muff. I added a glass packed straight through resonator to mine and it actually sounded better.
put up with it until you can fit a good system.

Hi Disco, i pulled mine out that weekend in the last school holidays after chatting to you and mine actually came undone quite easily, but couldnt an exhaust place just put another bolt on for you? I didnt really pay that much attention to how the bolt was fixed. Matt

I drilled out the old one and replaced it, it's had a slight leak ever since. Nothing major, just annoying.
Did you have any probs with getting your TC back in?
