2nd page, read the 2.7 terrano TD idea. Sounds like a giant killer to me ;)

We have done the 1.8lt Isuzu NA conversion to a zook and it is an absolute ripper.

I was the one who brought up the 2.7lt turbo diesel auto idea but I haven't been able to run a tape measure over one to know if it would fit.

The Isuzu and 5sp combo out of an early 80's gemini fits but you will have to be good at fabing stuff up as it requires some modifications to work.

let me know if you want more info.

Does anyone know what the length of the terreno motor and auto gearbox is overall. The minds a ticking but the pockets empty at the moment.

And yeah what would the 1.9lt TD be from??

cheer

I know the US guys have been using a 1.9TD from a Volkswagen with great success. keltec used to sell a kit and i think RRO do now. But I was under the impression you couldn't get the engine here in Aus. If so I would love to do it as i think I can get a great deal on a kit

you can get the vw/pug1.9 td in aus.i priced one before i put in the vitara engine.from memory the price was(long motor)$3800.not cheap.im in the process of finding them cheaper and as soon as i get one will make the kit to fit it.

i dont think i could get spooky through rego with a 2.7l.

also what about a lux diesel(2.4 i think)i have heard these are slugs but this is going into a zook.

the hilux disel will be too heavy for the Sierra but there is a 1.8 that is used in Hiace vans and tercels that could be a goer. There was a lwb down here that was running one for quite a few years until he drowned the engine.

Talk to jtraf (James) about the Gemini engine swap as it seems from all reports to be working a treat. Only problem i see with the gemini engine is the age of the motor.

What about a Mercedes 3.0 diesel from memory they were quite a compact engine but I could be way wrong on that

Just a thought what about one of the 2.5lt Scat engines. I know that there probably aren't alot around but it is another option and they were in a Daihatsu so the vehicle size is about the same.

Cheers

Gday, brothers suzi is running a hilux 2.4 dsl and is brilliant offroad and humps along pretty good on road as well. He has full hilux drivetrain tho, 5spd, tranny & diffs. Doesnt seem too heavy when when dropping off big steps but is a ute so lwb & front diff forward slightly.

2.2 Ltr TD Isuzu out of a Jackeroo. Can buy an 85 model for between 1500 and 3000 for the whole car. Mate had one in a Sierra Ute and it used to turn 33" pedes really well.
