They're both Toyotas so I vote get rid of both. :finger:

The Hi Lux would wanna be in good nick to replace the 80.

Anyhow P**s off if this is your biggest problem in life :)

Cheers Struth.

I'd be keeping the 80 series. They are a great old bus.

I had an 80 'burger with the lot", ditched it for
a single cab LN106, couldnt be happier. I think
I just hated the extra weight that you're constantly
draging around......................

I have 1 of each myself but if my hilux didn`t have as much done to it I`d sell it and keep the 80

Keep the 80, sell the lux, and spend that money on the 80. Imagine the money you would save on a coil conversion. If you really want, spend that on a ute conversion for the 80.
I'm in a similar dilema, but I got two 40's, a 60 and a 80. The 60 was bought for the power steering / springs / diffs and transfer case to donate to the 40. One of the 40's has been stripped and is for spares, the other is currently a work car.
Now the missus wants me to sell the 40 and the 60 and all the parts and use the 80 as a floggin toy, and wants to buy either a 40th Aniversary 80 or a 100 series as a tourer.
I can feel where your coming from, it sux to have to make decisions.

If you're keeping the 80 for off road, you'll regret it. They are
a bucket of crap compared to a Lux off road. Been there,
prooved it. But the 80 is a better all round, all terrainer.
It looks like someone is gonna get a good buy in the Lux.
Good luck with it................................

I think that's a bit of a rash statement. How can you compare coils to leafs. I've got a 40 Shorty, a 60 and the 80, and I have been driving with a heap of different lux's, and nothing against them, but there's no way I would swap the 80 for a lux for offroad, for anything actually. The only thing the 80 loses on is too many panels.

I think you have made the right choice.

Cheers

I'm with you. Mine's petrol but I don't think there is anyway a hilux diesel even with a turbo would have the same power to get me up a steep, long muddy slippery hill not to mention the difference in ride. Each to his own but I hate gutless cars not to mention bloody leaf springs. Sorry once you've had coils can't go back. In what way are they a bucket of crap? Mechanically? Not knocking you, just interested in what way cause I thought about a dual cab as a play toy that's for sale on here, but thought i would have the sh$ts with ride and lack of power. I reckon my 80 goes well off road. I had a big concern with reliability wit it before I sold the GQ, but to date has not let me down, except for pads and new rotors, but what else. I haven't even blown a diff yet, although I will now i woke it up.

Do what I am going to eventually do, make it into an overgrown hilux and dual cab it, once I've damaged it. If it bends in, cut it off.
