Sold my GQ 3L petrol which I turboed (VL bits) and aquired a Petrol/Gas shorty TB42. My aim was to turbo the TB but cant seem to sort out the head/gasket dilema. Love nissan engines but im afraid this model seems to be a turd. I,ve had countless RB30's and they go forever so i would like to put one in the shorty, my question is can I retain my transfer case and bolt it to the 3.0L manual? Mine currently is an auto.
cheers

yes the only difference is the shift lever on the side of the case and the output flanges but they shouldn't be a problem cause the case is sooted to your car all you need is to get a rb30 shifter.

I can relate to you there. I had (still have till I sell it) a dual fuel rb30 for the last 5 years and it's never missed a beat. I've since bought an identical car with 4.2 cause I wanted a little extra power, and taken it offroad twice and broken down off road twice

Am beginning to wonder if I should keep the rb30 and sell the tb42.

the best bit is if the motor ever shits its self you can buy a complete motor for a 50 bucks.
