Just purchased a nissan with a TD42 andwas wandering: this engine has two Z9 oil filters fitted; are they the correct ones? Do they cross reference with the nissan filter? . I will go buy two Z9's to see for myself, but if any one knows any thing ,it would be appreciated

Z9's are not the correct filters - they have bypass valves fitted, the new ones do not. They are the same basic filter (same thread, flange width etc), but without the bypass valve.

Z114 is the ryco number. Z9's are cheaper - which is why they would be fitted to your vehicle (i would guess).

B118 is baldwin

But there are different ones depending on your particular model of truck.

I found out today that some of the TD42's use 2 Z9 filters. Fram filters have both full flow and bypass filters. I shall be using the full flow filter and they cost me about $5 each. Will screw the first one on gently and go from there. Let you all know

You need to be careful as some GU 4.2TD ran different oil filter's i.e the full flow filter was different to the bypass filter. You need to chat to nissan and find the right filter's you require. Once you have the factory part numbers you then can cross reference them to after market filter.

My Gu IV 4.2TD runs the same filters both full flow and bypass. Be carefull if you are going to use Baldwin. As I have been chatting to diesel mechanics they have found the Baldwin filter can cause dusting the filter media is not that good and is breaking down.

Was recommended to run Fleetguard or Donaldson and currently running Donaldson filters but if wanted to run Ryco I would need to use 2 x Z503 not Z9

Mine runs a bypass and non bypass filter.
These can't be swapped as they are different diameter holes
