Can any damage occur if the timing on a diesel injector pump is too far advanced? on a 2.8 Hilux?

maybe a shit load of pre-ignition in which case youl fuck your mains bigends etc

If the injection timing is too far advanced or retarded the Exhaust Gas Temp will be high when the engine is worked hard - especially if it has a turbo fitted. This can do things like burn out valves, and in extreme cases blow holes in pistons.
