Have searched but havn't really found what i'm looking for! What would i have to do to get 33's under my sierra that has about 3" of spring lift? It's a narrow track, leaf sprung. I have front and rear lockers will i have to change these or do you just have to do the transfer case? Don't want to do it right now but might start buying things i need if they pop up. Thanks for any help.

Thank you very much
. Have never heard of this site and looks like it will have the info i need. So if i only need 5" to fit 33's is 2" body lift too big? Thanks for any help.

body lift will give you enough height but you wont have enough firewall clearance unless you more the front diff forward. however with all that height i would seriously be considering, widetrack diffs, or big offset wheels.
no you wont need to touch your lockers.

Keep it low, wide track diffs with a stretched WB to keep em out of the fire wall, then cut ya guards. If you dont have to raise the COG to fit the new tyres, dont.

I fitted 33" Goodyear MTR's under my guards with a standard spring over swap not doing any lift of the actual springs and using snake racing perches and a 45mm body lift. This was on a WT sierra and offset on the rims, the problem you will have is that your tires will most likely rub on leaf when on full lock, this is without flexing. I was able to flex the tires up into the guards no problem but when trying to go full lock in some situations I was limited. highway speed was limited and I hardly ever used 5th gear.

What about a 32 with the standard axels? I'm only 17 and on an app wage so cant really go out buyying new axles and stuff. Goes very well at the moment but was just wondering for when i get to that stage. Was just thinking body lift because the springs are flexing well and i don't really want to touch them. Thanks for the help

Stick to 30" unless you can spend upto $1300 on gears.
Yes you can get them for less by importing them yourself, but then again, you may have to have them fitted too if you dont have access to a press and gear puller.

Something i have found is if your an app like we are, then leave your zook as it is, maybe some mud tyres or a locka or somthing and just have fun, it gets way too expensive otherwise and then you cant even aford to wheel it.

i supose it depends in what trade your an apprenti ? as if being a mechanic you will have the right tools to do everything yourself . (as how much things will cost you etc labour wise)
also depends on what terrain you drive and what you hope to get out of the zook on road and off , as a cheap option to the $1300 transfer gear option is 5.12 vit diff gears around $350 , not as good by far as the transfer gears but will make your car on 33"s driveable on and off road .
i drove a nt with 2" body lift 2" raise leafs and spoa on 31"s
and everyone said about it being tippy
but you learn to drive what you have , i now run nt with 2" wheel spacers spoa and no body lift on std leafs and its way better more stable blah blah blah , but a body lift on nt with spoa will be fine all though spacing out your wheels ( either with spacers or flipped rims etc ) will also help alliviate rubbing on your springs on turning and give you more stability .
if you drive sensibly ( who realy knows what that is? ) 32 and 33 should be ok on zook axles , again depends on driving style and terrain and other mods such as lockers etc .
cheers Jai

Yeah it already has front and rear lockers and muds so go's really well. The only reason i wanted to know is that i do more mud and rutted stuff so if i fall in a rut the 30's don't touch the ground! It keeps up with jeeps with front and rear lockers and 33's easily. Will get gears for sure but was wondering weather to get the right ratios for 33's or 32's. The guy over the road is a machanic so he'll help me when i get some gears. What is the right gear i would need for 30's or 31's. I think i'll stay as is for now. Thanks for the help guys.

i,ve been running 33,s for nearly 6years !!
(on standrad gearing !!!)
only just put 1ltr transfer in (about 2months ago)
if you are only doing mud , standard gearing is fine , cause you can get the wheel speed up , which cleans the tyre,s , which means grip !!
But in saying that , I ,m having fun with the better geraing !!

Hmm, I love my 32's...32*9.5 Centipedes on ROH TRAK II!!! -12 offset rim. So you get the width that you need and the grip that you want. With the lockers you should have less trouble snapping axles keeping eveything slow and steady...in other words keep most of the wheels on the ground most of the time and you wont have any trouble

Yeah it's like a little tracktor! Was just thinking for rut sake. the 30's are bad enough with stock gearing let alone 33's! I think i will go to 31's. Then all i need is a 1 inch body lift on top of my 3 inch sus lift yeah? What gearing would i get for the 31's? Thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it.

umm, yeah i guess you could do that..but if the problem that you are having with the ruts is the pinion to ground clearance..then there is only one thing that will fix it and that is bigger tyres.... and .5 of an inch of lift may not do it

This is my zook wit a 3inch body lift and no spring lift(Standard springs).
I run speedy 15x7inch rims with a -12 offset and i only get slight rub at full lock on my chassis rails at the front with the 31x10.5 Simex Extream Trekkers which measure more like a 32.
I have had to use a hammer in a few places and remove the standard front bar as the old mounts for that bar as they would not let the tyres fit.
I was running the 1Lt engine with extractors, 1lt transfer case and with the 31's ,the gearing was crap i have now updated to a 1.3lt transfer case with series 3 rockhoppers and my road speed is back to standard and the ability off road has increased heaps. (80:1 instead of 36:1)
cheers
Simon.

Thanks zooksta i think i will get a 1 inch body lift witch will bring the total lift to 4 inchs. What gear ratio will i need for 31's? A hammer and angle grinder doesn't really worry me

just get transfer gears....i run s3's but calmini 5.14 would do a good job and are apparently stronger so maybe them

will shop around and see whats on the market. Apparently marks adaptors are making them now. Will go to 31's some time.

I think the 5.14's would be about the best choice as they are common and i have not heard any bad things about them. If you were to go series 3 or 4 rockhoppers your road speed will be reduced tomuch and it will be reving really high on the freeway and your top speed will be reduced.

i run series 3's with 30" mtr's and its not too bad...does 100kph at about 3800rpm but sits comfy at just over 90 at about 3300rpm so thats where i stay but from trying 31" centis for a while which measure a bit more, id say perfect size for series 3's and cruising at 100 would be an actual 31".

on a side note...also tried my stock 205/70's with series 3.....55kph change to 5th and 80kph at about 4500rpm

Will defenetly get some gears with the ratios for 31's.
Then save up for the next step because when you finish you always think it could be that much higher

Nev what ratio did you get? Thanks

Series 3 Rockhoppers are 170% Reduction over the factory ratio they will give you a final ratio of 6.129 to 1 in low range.
And High Range is reduced by 22%.

Ohhh. I thought you could get different ratios in the gears. Like diff ratios and stuff. Well that makes it easier then. Thanks for the help.
