BLOCKING EGR

I WAS WONDERING IT IS POSSIBLE TO BLOCK THE EGR ON A GU 2.8TD AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT???
IS THERE ANY REAL POINT OF DOING THIS?
I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT HELPS REDUCE SMOKE AND GIVES A FRACTION MORE GRUNT DOWN LOW??

trheres a 2.8 gu Motons power up thing on ebay at moment... go with that, its about the best you will get.
if you need to reduce smoke, get your injectors fixed, and you will get power at same time
